Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Arthur Zwane has revealed that both Samir Nurkovic and Lebogang Manyama are back in training as Amakhosi prepare to return to action.
Chiefs will be hoping to push on in the second half of the campaign and could be boosted by the return of Nurkovic and Manyama when DStv Premiership football returns in February.
Speaking after his side were drawn against TS Galaxy in the Nedbank Cup, Zwane revealed that the duo are looking good as they step things up ahead of their return to action.
“So far, so good, in terms of the response from the boys. It has not been easy obviously, because we come back from a situation. Getting about 10 to 12 days of rest, spending time with our families, gave us the opportunity to reflect. Coming back this year, and the second round of the league games, it’s going to be demanding. In our six days of training, the boys look good, even those who are coming back from injury like Samir (Nurkovic). He is coming up well. Lebo also looks good,” Zwane said via the Amakhosi media department.
“From the sessions, the boys have responded positively and we are looking forward to the games. We are going to be in camp for about 11 days, if not 12 days. Hopefully we are not going to experience some bad injuries in the camp and that we will have everyone available by the time we play our Nedbank Cup game.”
Speaking on their Nedbank Cup opponents, who beat them in that famous 2018 final, Zwane admitted that they face a difficult task but are up for the task.
“We are playing against a difficult team in TS Galaxy. They have a coach who is doing well for them and you can see when they build up from the back, the structure looks solid. They are going to be a difficult team to break, but I think we are equal to the task,” the assistant coach concluded.
