Jazzman Mahlakgane has confirmed that talks between Themba Zwane and Mamelodi Sundowns are ongoing, but the agent maintains that the ball is in Masandawana’s court.
The Bafana Bafanaa attacker has reportedly attracted interest from local clubs, most notably from Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates following a number of eye-catching performances for both club and country.
Reports suggested that Masandawana are close to finalising a deal with Zwane, however the player’s agent has since squashed those rumours saying that the two parties are in negotiation, but things are still a long way off from being concluded.
‘We are still talking to Sundowns,’ he told SunSport.
‘This is not a one-day thing, it takes more time to conclude negotiations. Downs management sent us the offer, we then brainstorm and send it back to them. We still have a long way, but we’re not worried about his future,’ he added.
With Zwane set to enter into the final six months of his contract making him eligible to enter into talks with other clubs, Sundowns will have to get the ball rolling or miss out on the opportunity of extending his contract or cashing in on his services.
‘I’ve never signed a pre-contract for my players. The minute you do that you create a thuggery attitude and I choose not to do it. I won’t sign a pre-contract with anyone.
‘I will give Sundowns a chance until June to renew Themba’s contract. That gives an employer the opportunity to rethink about their offer,’ he concluded.
Zwane has racked up 139 appearances for Sundowns, scoring 21 goals and assisting ten since joining in 2014.
