Percy Tau was forced off through injury as Club Brugge thrashed rivals Gent 4-0 on Sunday afternoon to extend their lead at the top of the Belgium First Division A to four points.
Tau and his club enjoyed a mammoth week which began with a historic 2-2 draw with European giants Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu in the Uefa Champions League.
Brugge manager Philippe Clement thus named an unchanged team for the match-up with their title rivals.
Tau’s team took the lead in the 12th minute through Vanaken and soon doubled their lead in the 28th minute as Diatta latched on to a rebounded Tau shot before firing home his side’s second.
That goal, however, came at a price for the Bafana Bafana star who was brought down while trying to get his shot away.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns man tried to play through the pain and clearly was uncomfortable before his manager eventually decided to withdraw the forward just before the half-time break.

A rampant Brugge went on to pull away through goals from Dennis and Mbaye Diagne as Tau’s team extended their lead at the top of the table.
The extent of the striker’s knock is unknown as he is set to link up with the Bafana Bafana squad for the international break.
