PUMA has officially launched the KING PLATINUM RL (Romelu Lukaku) special edition in recognition of Romelu Lukaku’s tenacity, hard work and dedication.

The boot has a personal connection for the striker whose father wore the KING when playing in the Belgian first division.

A masterful forward with an innate talent for scoring goals, Romelu Lukaku is making his way among football’s elite. In recognition of his tenacity, hard work and dedication, PUMA sports brand launches the KING PLATINUM RL special edition, a boot which the player has a very personal connection with.

Romelu Lukaku explained: ‘To wear the PUMA KING Romelu Lukaku is a nice feeling because indirectly I’m fully connected with this boot. When my father was playing for the Belgian first division, he was wearing and scoring with PUMA KING. I’m happy to be now wearing the new version that he was wearing 25 years ago. It’s quite dope’.

KING PLATINUM RL remains faithful to the original design of its predecessor but, introducing a technology that enhances the on-pitch performance. To ensure greater control, a 3D ‘touch’ texture is added to the premium K-leather on the upper boot. While the fit is improved with a snug-fitting, knitted tongue, the slim silhouette with the super-lightweight ‘RAPIDSPRINT’ white outsole provides the fastest and lightest KING ever known.

Lukaku remembers how some of his idols used to wear these boots back in the day: ‘That I can wear this silo, like the players who I looked up to did, when I was a kid – it’s an honour’.

Unfortunately, the boot will not be available through outlets in South Africa.
