Bayern Munich has confirmed that Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has been ruled out for their Champions League quarter-final first leg clash against Manchester City after sustaining a knee injury.
“Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting cannot travel to Manchester, the striker has been ruled out because of a knee joint problem,” the club tweeted.
🎙️ Tuchel on Choupo’s absence: “There is no reason that Serge Gnabry couldn’t play as a number nine. He may not have the height, but nor do Thomas Müller or Sadio Mané. We will also miss Choupo when defending set pieces.”#MiaSanMia #MCIFCB pic.twitter.com/iB1VCHeTli

The Cameroon striker, who is 34 years old, missed Saturday’s 1-0 win over Freiburg because of the same injury. Serge Gnabry took his place up front.
Choupo-Moting has scored 10 goals for the defending champions in the Bundesliga and 3 goals in the Champions League this season.
