Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham says it’s not always the mad quality that you see from us” following their victory over rivals Atletico Madrid.

Los Blancos came into the game with a one-goal advantage over Atleti following their 2-1 win in the first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu last Tuesday.

In the second leg, a goal within the first minute by Conor Gallagher drew the tie level at 2-2 on aggregate, but their side were able to find the winning goal in extra-time with the match forced to be settled in a penalty shootout.

Carlo Ancelotti’s came out victorious in the shootout after securing a 4-2 win on penalties to book their place in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Bellingham went on to praise his side’s character and mentality to overcome their rivals Atletico to move on to the next round.

“Really happy. It’s a huge game for us to win,” Bellingham told TNT.

“It’s massive for us, so important for us to get through at this stage. It will mean a lot to the fans because of who we were playing against.”

“That’s sometimes what it takes, those moments of composure and poise. It’s not always the mad quality that you see from us.

“There is a change of mentality when we come into these games, we know that there’s a certain way of winning games.

“We’re very good at that. We understand game situations really well, and tonight was another example.”
