Manchester City completed a perfect sweep in the Champions League group stage following their 3-2 win over Red Star Belgrade at the Crvena Zvezda Stadium on Wednesday.

As Group G winners, the reigning champions had already guaranteed their spot in the round of 16, giving Pep Guardiola the freedom to make nine changes.

Two of the young players who were given the opportunity to shine on the biggest stage in European football were Bobb and Hamilton, who both embraced the moment.

Before kickoff, a 2017 photo of Hamilton getting instructions from Guardiola while working as a ball boy went viral.

And on minute 19, he repaid his manager’s confidence by blasting a high shot past Omri Glazer from a tight angle.

This season, Bobb has made a bigger appearance in first-team lineups. Early in the second half, the Norwegian’s solo run and stylish finish doubled City’s lead.

Prior to kickoff, Red Star knew they would finish last in the section, so their only motivation was pride.

Hwang In-beom gave the Serbian champions a goal back.

However, Hamilton showed off his skills once more when, five minutes from time, he won a penalty kick and Kalvin Phillips scored his first City goal.

Red Star’s Aleksandar Katai scored in stoppage time, but City prevailed to become just the second English team, after Liverpool in 2021–2022, to win every group match in the Champions League.
