Chelsea manager Graham Potter believes Raheem Sterling could provide the spark the Blues need to overcome Borussia Dortmund in their Champions League round of 16 second leg on Tuesday evening.
The 28-year-old first season with the Blues has been disrupted by injury, but the attacker remains Chelsea’s top scorer this season with six goals across all competitions.
Sterling has not found the back of the net since January 1 during their 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.
However, Potter believes that Sterling could play a key role in helping his side over Dortmund as he has a wealth of experience playing in the Champions League, having scored 24 goals in 67 games for Manchester City.
“His goalscoring record in the Champions League speaks for itself,” added Potter.
“He’s a proven campaigner in that competition. We’re delighted with that, we’re looking forward to having him on the pitch on Tuesday, hopefully enjoying his football.”
The match at Stamford Bridge is scheduled to kick off at 10 pm.
