Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says he is confident his side can break their recent run of bad results against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
This is the fourth season in the last five years that the Gunners have met the Bundesliga side in the Champions League, but Wenger believes home advantage in the second leg could prove a decisive difference this time around.

The 67-year-old manager believes they have a good chance of ending their bad run of results against Bayern in the European competition and he believes a home advantage in the second leg could prove a decisive difference this time around.

‘Yes, we’ve had bad experiences against them. But I feel that this is a good opportunity,’ Wenger told the Arsenal website.

‘We have won there before and we play the first game away from home, so it’s important we protect the second game, because I feel that to have a chance to qualify in the second leg, that will be very important. We go there not high, but to defend well as a team.’

Wenger believes Mesut Ozil will play a big role in helping his side reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League, despite his performances against Hull City in the Premier League on Saturday.

‘It’s time for him to score again,’ he added.

‘Maybe he will find confidence back as well because he misses chances. He is missing the chances that don’t look unfeasible for him.

‘I felt he didn’t feel confident against Hull. It’s always a problem because you think he can deliver something special, but it’s true that technically he missed things [against Hull] that he is not used to.’

Arsenal will now travel to the Allianz-Arena when they face Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Kick-off has been scheduled for 21:45.
