Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Colombian goalkeeper David Ospina will start ahead of Petr Cech in their Champions League clash against Bayern Munich on Wednesday.
The 28-year-old has played every minute during his side’s Champions League campaign this season and has helped the Gunners finish at the summit of Group A in the Group Stages with 14 points.
The goalkeeper has already demonstrated his ability to perform on the big stage in this season’s competition, notably his man-of-the-match display in their 1-1 draw at Paris Saint-Germain on matchday one.
The 67-year-old manager confirmed that the Colombian shot-stopper is set to make his seventh appearance in Champions League following his performances in the competitions this season.
‘It will be Ospina in goal. He has produced some good performances and we are in the last 16 and finished top of the group because of him,’ Wenger told the Arsenal website.
‘If you analyse his performances in every single game, we are where we are because of his great performances.’
Ospina has kept a total of three clean sheets from eight appearances playing in the Champions League and FA Cup so far this season.
Arsenal will turn their attention to their Champions League Last 16 first leg tie against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday.
Kick-off has been scheduled for 21:45.
