The Money Man placed a R5,000 wager on the Test between the Springboks and All Blacks in Durban on Saturday.
No one likes to profit from the failure of the Springboks, least of all me. But when the bookies get it horribly wrong, one has to take advantage.
On Monday, New Zealand opened up a 10.5-point favourites spread over South Africa. This was an obvious mistake.
As I advised all my followers, I had worked the handicap out to 14.5. It may seem insignificant to the average person, but a 29% error is massive in the gambling fraternity. My advice to my followers was to go with the -10.5 spread because it offered tremendous value and it seemed impossible for the All Blacks not to win 11 or more.
Not much has changed for the South Africans. Allister Coetzee is still the coach, players are still selected out of position and the Boks are taking on a wonderful New Zealand side, who will cut them to shreds. The All Blacks will win by 20 points.
Over the past four days, money has poured in for New Zealand and rightly so. They are now -14.5 favourites, but I don’t have to worry about that because I’ve put a R5,000 bet on the All Blacks to win by 11 or more.
