Frenchman Warren Barguil won stage 13 of the Tour de France on Friday, with Italy’s Fabio Aru retaining the yellow jersey.
Barguil took the inside line on the final corner of the 101km run from Saint-Girons to go past Alberto Contador and win a sprint finish at the line. Contador had to settle for third after being pipped by Nairo Quintana.
It was the first win for France on Bastille Day since David Moncoutié in 2005.
Aru remains six seconds ahead of Britain’s Chris Froome in the overall classification, despite finishing the stage just behind Froome in ninth place.
South Africa’s Louis Meintjes is ninth in the overall classification.
