Cameron van der Burgh finished his swimming career with gold in the 50m breaststroke at the Fina Short-Course World Championships in Hangzhou, China.
Van der Burgh won in a championship record time of 25.41sec ahead of Ilya Shymanovich of Belarus and Felipe Lima of Brazil.
The 30-year-old South African had announced his retirement from swimming earlier in the week after taking gold in the 100m breaststroke event.

Earlier on Sunday, Chad le Clos picked up a bronze medal in the 100m freestyle, finishing in 45.89sec behind the USA’s Caeleb Dressel, who won gold in a time of 45.62. Vladimir Morozov of Russia was second.
