Gary Player’s drive to leave a legacy far greater than his golf career and honour the shared vision of his late wife Vivienne, has been given a major boost with the announcement by leading African investment company Tabono of its three-year sponsorship of the Gary and Vivienne Player Invitational.
Tabono has announced its long-term support of what is one of golf’s foremost charity tournaments featuring a field of Sunshine Tour professionals as well as celebrities and sports stars competing in a pro-am over 36 holes at the Lost City Golf Club to raise funds for the work of the Gary and Vivienne Player Foundation and its support of the Blair Atholl Pre-Primary School and the underprivileged children it faithfully serves.
“We are pleased to extend our partnership and support of the important work of the Gary and Vivienne Player Foundation. Inspired by its founders, we continue our association with the Gary and Vivienne Player Invitational over the next three years and support of the efforts of the Foundation in raising much-needed funds for the Blair Atholl Pre-Primary School,” said Tabono CEO, Reon Barnard.
Tabono’s support plays a key role in the vision of the Gary and Vivienne Player Foundation to ensure a sustainable future for the Blair Atholl Pre-Primary School, which was started by Player and his late wife in 1990 and which provides top foundational phase education to 125 learners between the ages of three to six from disadvantaged backgrounds.
It’s a vision that is passionately supported by other business giants such as Rolex, Sun International, BMW and Citadel, who have all come together to annually help raise millions for the school and the ongoing work of the Foundation.
Player expressed his deep gratitude for Tabono’s sponsorship and their support.
“I’ve experienced every possible high in terms of success a human being can experience and I am deeply grateful for having Tabono and so many others help me to keep a promise to my late wife Vivienne that we will ensure a sustainable future for the Blair Atholl Pre-Primary School.
“The coming together of so many people and companies around this common cause represents the best of us as human beings. It’s no better summed up than in the word Ubuntu, which is what the Gary and Vivienne Player Invitational and our Foundation is all about.”
