Manchester United star Wayne Rooney was celebrated in a friendly match between his current side and his former club Everton in a pre-season fixture on Wednesday.

Rooney, who is United’s second highest ever goal scorer, was led out by a guard of honour, while he was also accompanied by his children.

The Red Devils star is also England’s most prolific ever scorer, while he was won an avalanche of trophies with United over the course of his career.

The friendly match ended in a 0-0 stalemate despite some moments of magic.
