Banyana Banyana were left to rue what might have been after Janine van Wyk’s effort struck the bar with the scores still level.

Barely a minute before China took the lead in the game the Banyana captain came within inches of giving the South Africans the lead.

Following up on her own free kick the defender’s effort clattered against the bar, denying the side a lead. Had the chance been converted the entire fate of the game might have been different.
