The former Swedish international opened the scoring for United with a fantastic free-kick, before sealing the victory for his team with a late header.
The Man United talisman admitted that it felt great to win the EFL Cup in front of a capacity crowd at England’s home of football.
‘It feels good and I feel good. Winning trophies is always amazing, but especially when you play at Wembley. A great atmosphere, 85,000 people… it’s not every week you play a final and you win it. This is the second time we are here, and the second trophy I get here with this club, so I am super happy,’ Ibrahimovic told the Manchester United website.
The former Inter Milan hitman gave credit to his manager, Jose Mourinho, before lavishing some praise on himself.
‘I think, with the manager, he’s used to winning. When you bring in a manager like this, you know what you get, and when you bring me, you know what you get,’ he added.
The Swede hopes that this EFL Cup success won’t be the last trophy that his team wins.
‘We have another three to play for. We work hard. We believe in what we are doing. Of course, when you win a trophy, it gives you more confidence and the statistics speak for themselves – we could win five trophies, we have two and we have another three to play for. So let’s see what happens.’ Ibrahimovic concluded.
